A very nice article written by Yevgeniya Traps along with some photos containing details that about the things my Mom surrounds herself with while she works. Usually when I visit I like to look through all the different items and see if she added anything new. If I do find something she always has a story connected with it, unless it’s a cartoon from the New Yorker where it’s all pretty self explanatory and we both chuckle.

Yesterday evening at Soho Digital art, Mom was part of a panel that included some comic heavies: Bob Sikoryak, Peter Kuper, Al Jaffee, Mom, Bob Fingerman, and Dean Haspiel.

While it would have been nice to tag along, I am sure it would have been a jittery weak-in-the-knees affair for me. Peter Kuper and Al Jaffee being one of my all time favorites.

As the title implies, the panel discussed how living in New York City influences their work.

Mom thanks everyone who came out to MOCCA. A nice photo of her signing books. Next her is Fiona, who used to be an intern for D&Q and now lives in Brooklyn, joined up to help with D&Q and MOCCA.

I always chuckle at the title MOCCA, imagining that is what comic book and graphic novelists drink in order to meet their deadlines.

A series of her pages from previous and current works were on display in the exhibition area. Missed this by a few days. Wish I could have been there.

You can still email Miriam directly using the address available on this page. However if you send a message via the facebook page, you’ll get me, and I am working on setting up a twitter account for the hash tag addicts.

She created something wonderful out of the mess I handed to her.
I especially love her taking the red tail hawks and the pigeons for
the endpapers. Who would have thought about that. She did. And it works so well.

The release is next month and will be followed by several public signings. Stay tune for the exact dates times and locations as they will be announced here or on my facebook page.
